Detroit and the surrounding region need solutions for the challenges that face us. The Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit conference will provide a robust look at the practical and visionary solutions for our communities.

Goals for our conference are:
- To tap the power and richness of Metro Detroit's diversity, inviting people to come together as a learning community, and commit to new ways of living, acting and thinking that build sustainable community
- To provide individuals and groups already committed to and focused on sustainable transformative ideas, education and action in Detroit a synergistic space in which to network and connect for the sake of the common good
- To collaborate with four Detroit colleges/universities to promote Bioneers vision and values
- To nurture a deeper understanding of a 'sense of place' and foster new awareness of our essential interconnectedness
- To ensure that the conference is relevant for urban residents and enables the participation of low income people
