Sustainable Detroit is committed to promoting a sustainable Detroit region through inspiration and networking.

We are a loosely assembled group of people from the city and 'burbs. There is no membership, and we meet when we can. The main thing is that we are working towards real change in a finite period of time. Other than that, we are open to and even expect to modify our goals as we find our niche in Detroit's sustainability scene.

We have been around since Fall 2003, though our roots go much deeper. In essence, we are an outgrowth of the Adamah vision, which was a drastic departure from tradional city living in Detroit. Adamah, though, seemed to be overwhelming in breadth, so we decided to concentrate on only part of the vision: inspiration and networking. Hence, our organization is now focussed on tying together local groups that are doing wonderful, Adamah-like work around SE Michigan.

We invite you to join our listservs and become acclimated to the many interesting articles and events that are happening around town. Futhermore, if you really like what we're doing, contact us and find your own place at Sustainable Detroit. We are looking for anyone who is enthusiastic about the city, its potential, and life in general! There are no time commitments or obligations.

Since we are in our infancy, most of the press we have garnered has been though Adamah.

Our Logo

Our logo symbolizes Detroit sitting on top of a leaf. The city is growing in sync with nature and the true nature of human beings; that is, its people are redefining its existence through programs which stress environmental consciousness, political justice, economic innovation, and the welfare of society at large.
